Things To Do In & Around Morzine | Lac Les Gets

Since we made the move out here at the end of last summer, the time has literally flown by. So much that we are still only just getting to know the place.

The weather has been just beautiful…….. Actually let me stop here, I have had to re-write this paragraph as today we have woken up to a foot of snow. I kid you not, it hasn’t snowed this hard since February!!!!!! But forecast says its just blip and the warmer weather will soon return.

Phew!! As our first retreat is in 2 weeks time!!

Before this, it was really starting to warm up, with temperatures up to 20 degrees, I even have a little bit of a sun tan going on!! Warmer weather meant we had been getting out as a family and doing a little more exploring while the kids were still off school. It was also an opportunity for checking out our walking routes ready and rearing for the first of our up and coming fitness retreats.

So we wanted to take you with us and share our adventures so we can show you some of the amazing things that Morzine and the surrounding areas have to offer during the summer months through our blogs and Vlogs. We hope you will enjoy seeing another side to the area.

As it’s currently interseason, everything shuts down and so, it’s more of a sneak peak about what you can come to expect when everything re-opens at the start of the summer season.

The main summer seasons runs from 11th June up until the 3rd of September when the lifts and the town re-opens. The lift system gives you access to walking and mountain biking routes across the whole of the Portes Du Soleil area and the summer multi pass options gives you access the lifts and discount on a range of different activities.

And while it’s still the same mountains you know and love in the winter, it does look and feel completely different in the summer time.

For our first little snippet into our adventures at The Works we headed over to the lake at Les Gets.

We had heard the lake over at Les Gets was a great place to go with the kids, so off we went not entirely sure what to expect.

As you can imagine at this time of year it was super quiet, though rumour has it that this place is actually a bit of a hidden gem. It’s much smaller than the lake over at Montriond and this place has a wonderful relaxed feel.

The small lake is perfect for the kids and adults alike to cool off from the summer sun and take a little dip, it even has a slide over at the side which as any parent will know, can add hours and hours of fun (for the kids that is!!).

We are also told that this summer they will be adding a large water inflatable, again endless hours of splashing about.

This along with kids play area, basketball courts, table tennis, beach volley ball, a treetop adventure course and bungee jump (at an additional cost) for the slightly older kids, means that there is plenty to keep everyone occupied whilst the adults can either join the fun, or choose to sit back and relax.

You could choose to take a picnic or there is also a café available serving food and drinks. We haven’t been yet to try it for ourselves, but will be sure to go back later in the year and give you a full update.

We can already see that this place would be a great addition to your summer holiday schedule. While summer holidays in the Alps will never have a shortage of things to do, it’s sometimes difficult to know what to do with smaller children. And if you are up that way, we would definatly reccomend one of our favourite English food restaurants Alba.

We know that when we have visited in the past we would have loved a day here but just didn’t know about it, which is why we wanted to share our adventures with you to be able to get the very most from your summer holidays.

With more adventures coming soon, we hope you have enjoyed this instalment and if it has made you curious about having a summer holiday with a difference this year then get in touch for summer self catered availability, because not only is it a great option for families that enjoy being a little more active, it’s also super affordable too.

Make sure you sign up to our priority list to get all of our best prices and offers, and never miss an update.
